NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2010
Once again it’s time to write the newsletter and so much has happened in just a few weeks since the last writing.
On the 8th September I flew to Luxor in Egypt laden down with your donations for the clinic at Karnack (5kg) of medicines including Paracetamol , vitamin tablets and calpol sachets I was more than pleased to see the finished clinic all the work that has been done by so many, I also took £370.00 , £270.00 was used to purchase the new air-conditioning for the clinic the remaining £150.00 purchased 4 months medications for the clinic, I took many photo’s that are still at this stage in my camera but I will be getting them printed ASAP so you will all be able to see the work that has been done so I can only thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the help you have sent to the village and clinic at Karnack.
Whilst I was in Egypt I received the sad news that our dear friend Don Gobbet had passed into the spirit world, I was given a great honour by Joyce when she asked me to play the organ at Don’s funeral, I know you will all join with me in extending our sympathies to Joyce and her family.
The passed 2 month there has been several events in the church that have help to raise fund for work to be carried out including the coffee morning on 4th September raised £148.00, an evening with Raye Edwina Brown on 11th September raise £80.00, an evening with Joanne Green on October 9th raised £136.00 and also another coffee morning on October 16th raised £180.00 all this income will help towards the cost of 2 new fire exit door to be installed shortly at the cost of £1600.00 this was agreed at the recent EGM held at the church on Thursday 30th September when 25 members voted 25 to 0 in favour of these doors being installed. Other work carried out at the church included the adjoining wall to the neighbouring property being repaired by our neighbour. We are also looking into the updating of the sound system in the church
Since the last newsletter we have had the harvest festival and once again the back of my car was heavily laden as I took over100 tins and packets of food to the night shelter for the homeless the night I arrived they informed me that they didn’t think they could provide a meal for everyone that night but were so pleased with the arrival of such a large donation to be able to feed everyone there, so once again I say a wonderful thank you to all who gave so much.
As time rolls on the work also goes on and the planning for next year includes workshops, demonstrations dinners, and booking mediums. Also remember on Sunday 2nd January 2011 we have the yearly memorial service for you to bring your photos and memories of your loved one
As this is the last newsletter of the year I take this opportunity to extend to you all the seasons greeting for a wonderful Christmas and look forward a prosperous 2011.
Yours as always,
Richard
