NEWSLETTER MAY / JUNE 2011

Agm March 3rd

At the start of March we had the Agm which saw changes on the committee, questions being asked/answered and suggestions being proposed hopefully for the improvement of the church. As I enter my 7th year in charge I am still amazed as to not only where the years have gone but also how quickly but thanks to the incredible help from so many of you that’s what has made it so successful.

As proposed and seconded at the Agm Hugh has resigned his position as church secretary and Ian has taken on the task(acting) I know you will all join me in thanking Hugh for his hard work for the church over these passed years , and wish Ian all the best wishes for the future in this roll difficult task

A healing demo by Mike Smith took place on March 5th This proved to be a very interesting evening many members attended and most people had a opportunity to have a hands on experience as Mike demonstrated his spirit surgery £90.00 was raised for church funds

Coffee Morning March 12th this coffee morning was well attended as these mornings have proved very popular £255.65 was raised for church funds

We had another Coffee Morning April 9th This coffee morning wasn’t so busy but never the less a £185.70 was add to church funds all these funds are going at the moment to improve the church music system as I stated at the Agm

Emma Hardinge-Britten April 9th Adrian and myself went to Stansted Hall for the afternoon service and reception for the rededication of the head stone from the grave of Emma Hardinge-Britten into the memorial gardens at Stansted, our church had contributed (£100.00 to the fund to restore the grave in a Manchester cemetery and the fund organizers Norwich church and the SNU had invited myself to attend with a guest I had chosen Adrian to accompany me as he had been a great supporter of this cause, it was a good chance for both of us to meet many friend in the spiritualist movement, unfortunately the afternoon was slightly marred by the fact I had a nasty fall but fortunately nothing was broken only badly bruised and I can only thank so many who gave and sent me healing

Healing has also been much needed for our former president Dave Robinson and Elizabeth who I know has been through so much.

Work done in the church included a canopy beside the main door so anyone arriving at the church can shelter until a key holder arrives to unlock the doors, also the flower boxes for the outside terraces have arrived and are now in place so if anyone would like to donate any summer flowers for these boxes or the church garden please see Ian or Carol

Easter/Good Friday well we had a bumper Good Friday afternoon this year the total raised was £910.47 plus a donation of £1000.00 was handed to me so we can now go ahead with the church sound system,Iwill soon be calling an EGM once we have the quotes for the work so again many thanks to you all for everything.

At a recent funeral I attended the service was taken by a non spiritualist minister who failed to make any mention whatsoever of the deceased being a former church member, did you know there is a form of codicil that any member can fill in to let their relatives know if they wish to have any form of a spiritualist funeral

And finally on Saturday 30th April saw 28 of us leave the church at 8am for the day out at Stansted hall. There were several members who were going for the first time plus many seasoned campainers and I know from the comments of all I spoke to that everyone had enjoyed a wonderful sunny day and well worth the effort

As I close:- again I can only thank all who have given so much to our church in time, help, healing, work, food, donations, or just by attending our church

luv
Richard
